چکیده
The assessment of the suitability CO 2 storage sites is basis for large-scale deployment Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects. However, research on in sedimentary basins relatively lagging behind China. Previous studies have focused sites, while social, economic environmental factors are ignored. This paper takes counties districts as objects, conducts a comprehensive evaluation onshore basins. results show that: (1) Onshore cover 839 (districts) China, which 318 prohibited from implementing storage; 286 Class II risk areas; suitable areas include 217 19 respectively, accounting about 45% total area. (2) mainly distributed Tarim Basin, central northern parts Songliao northwestern part Ordos northeastern Erlian southern Bohai Bay Basin. Early atmospheric detection of carbon dioxide from carbon capture and storage sites
UNLABELLED The early atmospheric detection of carbon dioxide (CO2) leaks from carbon capture and storage (CCS) sites is important both to inform remediation efforts and to build and maintain public support for CCS in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. A gas analysis system was developed to assess the origin of plumes of air enriched in CO2, as to whether CO2 is from a CCS site or from the oxi...
متن کاملDesign of carbon dioxide storage in aquifers
We propose a carbon storage strategy where CO2 and brine are injected into an aquifer together followed by brine injection alone. This renders 80–95% of the CO2 immobile in porescale (10 s mm) droplets in the porous rock. Over thousands to billions of years the CO2 may dissolve or precipitate as carbonate, but it will not migrate upwards and so is effectively sequestered. The CO2 is trapped dur...
متن کاملStorage of carbon dioxide in offshore sediments.
The battle to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prevent the most dangerous consequences of climate change will be waged across multiple fronts, including efforts to increase energy efficiency; efforts to deploy nonfossil fuel sources, including renewable and nuclear energy; and investment in adaptation to reduce the impacts of the climate change that will occur regardless of the actions we ta...
متن کاملFast and Slow Compaction in Sedimentary Basins
A mathematical model of compaction in sedimentary basins is presented and analyzed. Compaction occurs when accumulating sediments compact under their own weight, expelling pore water in the process. If sedimentation is rapid or the permeability is low, then high pore pressures can result, a phenomenon which is of importance in oil drilling operations. Here we show that one-dimensional compactio...
متن کاملCarbon Dioxide Storage in Natural Gas Reservoirs
Carbon Dioxide Storage in Natural Gas Reservoir — The general idea of CO2 disposal in gas reservoirs is that the underground volume of the ultimately recoverable hydrocarbons (gas and condensate) is replaced by CO2. This paper investigates the feasibility of carbon dioxide disposal in depleted gas reservoirs. Gas reservoirs are a practical storage site for the carbon dioxide, because the presen...
